Every evening by 5pm we will upload the learning activities for the next day below. These tasks are to be completed in the purple exercise books that were sent home, the Maths practice book or the arithmetic book. Please support your child to complete the activities where necessary.
Miss Welland, Miss Barry and Miss Smith welcome you to Year 5!
This half-term we will be studying:
English: Modern Fiction - 'There's a Boy in the Girls' Bathroom' by Louis Sachar and 'Coraline'by Neil Gaiman.
Maths: Fractions, geometry, statistics, multiplication and two step word problems.
Altar of repose
Topic: History (Vikings) and Geography (Rivers).

We have issued the children in Year 5 with their unique usernames and passwords for the LGFL website (www.lgfl.net) for the children to access online resources to support the children's learning at home (they should be stuck in their Reading Records). If you have access, please allow your children to have a chance to look at these excellent resources.
Yr 5 team
After half-term, Cycling Instructor.com are coming in to St Joseph's to offer cycle training to all the children in Year 5.
They will visit from 2-27 March 2020. The first week (week beginning 2nd March) all of the children will be assessed. They do not need to bring in their own bikes but are encouraged to do so (as the instructors will be able to carry out a safety check of the bike)
Please read the letter below, an email with this letter is also being sent. There will also be hard copies available in the School Office.
Many children are coming into school with amazing pencil-cases but no actual writing equipment.
Please ensure your child has-
A blue pen
A green pen
A red pen for editing
Staff are happy to clarify any misunderstandings so please do not hesitate to contact us at any time ( a note is the best way). We are impressed with the children so far and are looking forward to see them achieve and mature throughout Year 5.
If your child is absent from school please ring and let us know, a written note is not required.
